Game of Thrones Emilia Clarke sheds light on cup-gateMore

Among many other things, "The Bells" killed off a number of major characters - including Cersei and Jaime - and also saw Emilia Clarke's Daenerys Targaryen make the ultimate heel turn.

Last week, Game of Thrones crew admitted a Starbucks coffee cup was mistakenly left on set when they were filming an episode.

"We all have the same cups for all of our water and tea and everything", Turner said.

It seems it's not only viewers who took issue with it, though, as Clarke herself doesn't seem too pleased with the final season, either. Regardless, the internet has theories.

While Turner may not be making much as her on-camera big brother (Jon Snow), she's still taking home a pretty penny: an estimated $175,000 per episode.

The GoT brass had a humorous response after the mistake was noticed on Monday night.

"Dany's an incredibly strong person, she's also someone who has had really close friendships and advisors for her entire run on the show". In addition to saying she was "sorry", she joked that "Westeros was the first place to actually, you know, have Starbucks". But the most interesting thing happened at the Evening Show.

The following contains spoilers from season 8 of Game of Thrones.

TV bosses have commented on the mistake and it has since been digitally removed from the episode, and now the British actress has weighed in with a cheeky behind-the-scenes snap from the show. In an interview with CNBC, Stacy Jones, CEO of marketing company Hollywood Branded, said that the buzz has translated to billions in free ads.

But the online frenzy mostly assumed it was a cup from Starbucks, which was happy to play along with the buzz.

HBO has discreetly refreshed the latest scene of Game of Thrones to carefully expel an espresso mug that unintentionally advanced into a scene, setting the web ablaze with an apparently unending stream of images all the while.
