Editor's Note: The fan at the center of this story, identified as Shane Keisel, has been permanently banned from attending any future Utah Jazz games. We play basketball, we can report about the game, you guys can cover the game, but at the end of the day as a man, all you've got is your respect.
"The realisation of it is, how it started was, a young man and his wife in the stands told me "to get down on my knees like you used to", Westbrook told reporters. "But fans understand that they pay hard-earned money to watch our lovely game and watch our lovely players and I respect that, but there's a fine line when you go to the disrespectful side".
"I'll f*ck you up".
"I'm going to tell you one thing: I'll f*** him up!"
He later defended his actions, saying he had been subjected to "disrespectful" and "racial" language.
Keisel, who wishes Westbrook would have been more professional, has long believed the player to be classless. Westbrook was fined for using both profanity and threatening language, which he did from the sideline.
The ban includes all Vivint Smart Home Arena events.
Last year, Westbrook knocked the cell phone out of the hand of a fan in Salt Lake City after a Thunder playoff loss. CBS Sports reports the star player has had a clean slate on and off the court, but he does not tolerate disrespect from fans.
After video of the confrontation spread on social media, many users were shocked by some of the content on Keisel's social media accounts, which have since been deleted. "I just think there's got to be something done".
After the game, Westbrook expressed his thoughts on the incident with reporters. I never will. Never been in any domestic violence before.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr empathizes with the abuse Russell Westbrook received from a Jazz fan in Utah on Monday night. "People can say whatever what they want to say us during games and yell out stuff and talk about our families and talk about our kids". Am I heckling the opposing guy?
Shane Keisel, 45, was the fan on the receiving end of Westbrook's words. Felton confirmed he also heard the taunts.
This isn't the first time Westbrook has had issues with the fan base in Utah. I'm exhausted of just going out and playing and letting fans say what the hell they want to say.
