The White House is also smarting from explosive testimony on Capitol Hill by Trump's former lawyer and fixer on Wednesday that branded him a criminal and a racist.

Trump said Democrats have fired the starting gun on the 2020 presidential campaign in an effort he's dubbed "presidential harassment".

The judiciary chairman said he would initiate investigations into Trump for abuse of power, corruption, and obstruction of justice.

Trump derided the Democrats' Green New Deal - a platform to reduce carbon emissions in the USA and convert to 100 percent renewable resources - as a socialist plan that would severely impact the fossil fuel industry.

"He's been talking for nearly two hours, one of the longest speeches I've ever heard the president make, certainly longer than the rallies I have been to", Gallacher said.

Members of the Trump family, key figures in the 2016 campaign, as well as past and present White House aides have all have been contacted by House Judiciary Chairman Jerold Nadler, a New York Democrat.

"Impeachment is a long way down the road", Nadler said. Mr. Trump has repeatedly slammed the Mueller investigation as a "witch hunt" and insisted there was "NO COLLUSION" with Russian Federation.

He said their threatened Robert Mueller, the special counsel in charge of the investigation into Russian interference into the 2016 USA election.

On Saturday in a speech to the Conservative Political Action Conference, Trump singled out the investigations being conducted by Mueller.

The meeting has come under scrutiny by the special counsel and the other congressional bodies who've previously launched investigations.

Did the Trump campaign collude with Russian Federation? Mr. Nadler even sought to reach into the grave, asking the estate of late Republican banker Peter W. Smith to pony up answers.

"Now that the Democrats are going to try and switch from collusion to some other reason, it makes the continue to look like sore losers who didn't accept the will of the people in the last election".

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee have also set a Monday deadline for materials related to a report that Trump overrode objections from senior officials to grant top-security clearance to his son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The Democrats' investigation is launching as Special Counsel Robert Mueller's is winding down, so far without any revelations of collusion with Russian Federation. "I think they have to be careful to lay out a persuasive case of why they're taking-undertaking each one of these investigations", he told Cabrera.

He later added, "I have never in my lifetime seen a presidential campaign from a person of either party have this much outreach to a foreign country, and a foreign country that the intelligence community and our committee has validated, intervened massively in our election and intervened with an attempt to help one candidate, Donald Trump, and to hurt another candidate, Hillary Clinton".

"Show me where the president did anything to be impeached.Nadler is setting the framework now that the Democrats are not to believe the Mueller report", he said. "But this investigation goes far beyond collusion".

What about obstruction of justice? Trump has denied he told Comey to end the Flynn probe. He says the unnamed man asked him what he was going to talk about today, and he said "I dunno".

"That is something that we will have to await Bob Mueller's report and the underlying evidence to determine".

Trump explained to the crowd that it was "easy" to give extended speeches in rooms full of love and appreciation for what they had done.
