Terrifying footage has emerged out of Colorado, featuring cars becoming engulfed by an avalanche.

Teams working with avalanche dogs found the man's body in a slide believed to have occurred Sunday in the Matterhorn area near Telluride, the San Miguel Sheriff's Office said.

Also, a volunteer with the Summit County Rescue Group was in the canyon Sunday morning when the first avalanche came crashing down the mountain. A handful of drivers in Colorado can confirm as much after an avalanche barreled across a roadway this weekend and instantly delivered a complete whiteout.

"It's exciting, but pretty nerve-wracking because you don't know when it's going to stop", Easton told FOX31.

Jacob Easton also captured footage of the avalanche, telling KDVR that he pulled his vehicle over and waited for the snow to stop tumbling down.

Yesterday, an avalanche dumped snow across a section of Interstate 70, covering some vehicles in snow.

The National Weather Service issued an avalanche warning on Sunday at the request of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) says that while the avalanche got close to I-70, there was not enough snow on the road to impact travel. "A potent winter storm caused avalanche danger to rise yesterday and very risky conditions persist today".
