Inside Nicolas Cage's Four-day Marriage: Why Did He Request an Annulment?

Nicolas Cage has filed for divorce, just four days after marrying his girlfriend, Erika Koike.

The actor shocked his fans last week when he was spotted at a Las Vegas courthouse applying for a marriage license with Erika.

Annulments are awarded when a marriage is legally void, which Cage is believed to be arguing based on him being intoxicated when the pair Wednesday. The wedding came just less than a year after the pair began dating last April. Cage offered several reasons for his request and also asked a judge to grant a divorce if an annulment is not possible.

The couple split in November, 2002 and finalised the divorce in 2004, shortly before he Wednesday Alice Kim, who became the mother of the actor's 13-year-old son Kal-El, born in 2005.

The 55-year-old married his partner on Saturday after making a court application for a licence in Nevada on the same day.

The couple got married in sin city and as per Daily Mail's eyewitness Cage appeared to be "very out of it" and was "most likely drunk".

This has been the Oscar-winning actor's fourth marriage. They were married from 2004 to 2016.

The movie star was previously married to Patricia Arquette and Lisa Marie Presley, his wife of three months in 2002. Kim, a former waitress, gave birth to the couple's only child together Kal-El in 2005.

Cage also has a son, 28-year-old Weston, from a previous relationship with actress Christina Fulton.
