When folded, the device is 11mm thick.
Thomas Husson, an analyst at Forrester, said the Mate X "shows Huawei is a leader in tech innovation". That's roughly $2,500 making it a fair bit costlier than the Galaxy Fold. "The HUAWEI Mate X will be the first key for consumers to open the door to 5G smart living". Essentially, this is the best camera phone that folds right now.
Unfolded, the Mate X is only 5.4mm thin - thinner than most tablets on the market today according to Huawei.

In case you missed the unveiling, the Galaxy Fold wields a main 7.3-inch QXGA+ Dynamic OLED screen (4.2:3 aspect ratio) when opened up, and a 4.6-inch HD Super AMOLED (21:9 aspect ratio) cover display to use when closed. Unfolded you have an 8-inch tablet display with a 8:7:1 aspect ratio and a 2480 x 2200 resolution. There's also no headphone jack from the looks of things, though that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone given the analogue port was missing on past few Huawei flagships.
Richard Yu, the chief executive of Huawei's consumer business, said the Mate X represented "a voyage into the uncharted".
The Huawei Mate X is priced at €2299 (~$2607). There's also a fingerprint sensor built into the power button of the device.
Like other recent Huawei devices, the Mate X is powered by a 7nm Kirin 980 chipset. It packs dual-SIM support for widespread connectivity as well.
It feels like the DualScreen is an attempt to offer the market something, which makes something that's just. fine as an accessory feel nearly like an apologetic move now so many brands are talking about a glossy, flexible future. There appears to be a four-camera array in the sidebar.
With premium mobile phones already costing well over $US1000 ($1400) a piece, customers have been turning to cheaper alternatives, often made by lesser-known companies. Huawei boasts that you'll be able to charge your foldable device from 0 to 85 percent within 30 minutes using this technology. The Chinese telecom major said its foldable phone will start at a price of €2,299, much higher than the Fold's $1,980 price tag, and will be available sometime in the middle of 2019.
