Rep. Ocasio-Cortez says to serve on financial services panel

Joe Lieberman Takes Another Dig At 'Silly' AOC

Former Gov. Walker, Ocasio-Cortez engaged in Twitter war over over marginal tax rates

Wall Street had better brace itself, because the House Financial Services Committee is about to be loaded with some big names from the left wing of the Democratic Party.

Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter late Tuesday.

The powerful committee also oversees the USA housing market, insurance and global finance sectors, among other areas.

"Personally, I'm looking forward to digging into the student loan crisis, examining for-profit prisons/ICE detention, and exploring the development of public & postal banking".

While she meant she and her fellow liberal Democrats would enthusiastically pursue their agenda items, "run train" is known as a crude sexual term, which is sometimes used to denote acting in an aggressive manner.

"That doesn't mean all $10 million are taxed at an extremely high rate, but it means that as you climb up this ladder you should be contributing more", she said.

It's likely just the start of the 29-year-old lawmaker's attacks on lenders, and could preview the changing tone of the financial services panel now that Democrats control the House.

Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic socialist and the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, has become one of the most prominent members of the new Democratic House majority, pushing for an ambitious progressive agenda and frequently trading social media barbs with conservatives.

But despite Trump's refusal to even entertain a question about her remark, Ocasio-Cortez seems to be calling it a victory.

Her victory in the November general election was a foregone conclusion in New York's 14th Congressional District, where 77 per cent of voters chose Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump in 2016. We got under his skin'.
