Trade website Box Office India said the film was performing well in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Punjab, Bihar and Central India.
The global collection of 2.0, which was released in over 10,500 screens, crossed ₹100 crore on the first day, making it the second movie to achieve the feat after Baahubali-2 (₹217 crore). Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to reveal that the Hindi version of sci-fi film minted INR202.5 million at the Indian box office since its release.
The weekend collection for the film is expected to be high as advanced bookings for the shows continue. Growth on Day 3 [vis-a-vis Day 2]: 23.46%. On its opening day, the film has grossed Rs 20.25 crore across the globe. Day 4 [Sun] should witness further growth. It features Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in key roles.
Being a normal working day release, that too on a Thursday, it is a very good opening gross figure for 2.0 but definitely below the expectations that one would associate with a film from the celebrated Rajini - Shankar duo and the sequel to the much-loved Enthiran. This is also the first time the actor will be seen playing a negative role in films. The film was produced by Lyca Productions and the music for the film is by AR Rahman. While Rajinikanth plays Chitti, the filmmaker roped in Bollywood heartthrob Akshay Kumar and Sudhanshu Pandey to play antagonists in the film.
The Hindi version of the film has been appreciated and accepted across all Hindi circuits. The movie is made under the huge budget of Rs 543 and is considered as the most expensive Indian film.
