Lewis Hamilton no fan of F1 calendar expansion

Sainz wouldn't rule out Hamilton driving for Ferrari

Formula 1: Ferrari facing elimination in 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix

"Everyone was on an "out" lap", said Hamilton, explaining the incident which led to Sirotkin running two wheels off circuit on to the grass. As both men were on an out-lap and trying to build a gap to the cars in front, in order not to encounter traffic on a timed run, Hamilton questioned Sirotkin's driving after the session.

Hamilton wrapped up his fifth world title in Mexico a fortnight ago but the constructors' championship is still to be decided.

Hamilton and Sirotkin were preparing an out lap during Q2 when the pair nearly came to blows on the section of track between Mergulho and Juncao at Interlagos.

"I'm sure we're going to talk about it in Abu Dhabi now but we might have to try and add something in like you can only be called if you have set a lap".

"I had to go a bit too quickly through my programme initially and I had some traffic as well".

"I think some of it is still a mystery but I think there are a lot of areas that we have understood", Hamilton said.

It was a disrespectful move. It was kind of odd.

Hamilton's high-speed run-in with the Williams came during the second phase of qualifying as drops of rain threatened to have an impact on the result.

Hamilton was delighted with pole. When he arrived at the scales, Vettel used his vehicle to knock a cone out of the way and then gesticulated wildly at officials.

Lewis Hamilton has said it is "likely" he won't continue in the sport if it expands to 25 races and would prefer it to be shorter than it presently is. "I haven't asked Valtteri, but I don't think he will want that".

Ferrari's Vettel was fined and reprimanded for a weighbridge incident but will start alongside the British ace.

The Englishman has never won a grand prix having already secured that year's championship - although 2008 and 2014 went down to the final race, in 2015 and 2017 he clinched titles with multiple rounds to spare. Vettel's team-mate Kimi Raikkonen qualified fourth.

This season has 21 races, as does 2019, but Formula One has also been talking to Miami for a USA street race and Zandvoort in the Netherlands about a return to the coastal circuit last visited in 1985.

The year started with great hope for the Woking marque after they pushed through a divorce from Honda to team up with Renault power.

After Ferrari lost out big time with a qualifying tyre gamble in Japan, it seemed incredibly courageous to play chicken with the weather in Brazil.
