James blew past Chamberlain by scoring 44 points for the Los Angeles Lakers in a 126-117 home victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

The performance marked the first 40-point game in the brief Lakers career of the 33-year-old James, who's in his 16th National Basketball Association campaign.

Spectrum SportsNet reporter Mike Trudell remarks that the injury likely occurred after Rondo hit his hand on the floor during a play in the fourth quarter.

Outside of Ball, head coach Luke Walton will struggle to find production at the point guard position.

With 14 games into the season, the squad, led by Lebron James, now sits at 7th place in the Western Conference with 8 wins and 7 losses under their belt.

LeBron is undeniably one of the greatest scorers the league has ever seen, ascending to fifth all-time in points despite playing just the 52nd-most games.

Rondo, who was apparently injured stealing the ball in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's win over Portland, could have surgery as early as Friday.

Rajon Rondo figures to be out for an extended period of time.

James scored 28 points in the second half and vaulted past Chamberlain's 31,419 points on that three-point play with 3:55 to go. "As a group, we'll figure out what rotations are working the best, who's handling certain responsibilities [and] giving our team the best shot of winning".

Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo had a game-high 31 points to go with nine rebounds and four assists, but Marc Gasol finished with 29 points and five rebounds while going six for 12 from three-point range in the Grizzlies' 116-113 win over Milwaukee. Over the last 14 games, they have allowed their opponents to 35.5 percent from three-point range and 54.5 average points in the paint - which says a lot considering the rotational mishaps they make every game. Although he has played only 11 games for LA, Rondo is already a key component of the revamped club. "He knows all the plays, knows where everybody is supposed to be so it's going to be tough having him out but we wish him a speedy recovery and we can't wait to have him back". The clubs don't have their final meeting until the regular-season finale at Staples Center on April 9.
