Specifically, it is planning to hold a four day "shopping" event. Right now, you could try out services like Audible or FreeTime Unlimited for a month absolutely free, but during Black Friday, those offers could be bumped up to three or more months.

The National Retail Federation says over 64 million people shopped both online and in-stores.

The product review company said the "holiday" has really morphed into a whole month of deals and savings and "only rookies head out on Black Friday unprepared".

Which? discovered that almost half of the products on offer were sold for less in the six months following Black Friday, which covered the period December 2017 to May 2018.

Yet the price listed on Amazon for the TV was nearly £50 below that figure on at least 62 occasions after Black Friday.

"While retailers are bombarding us with promises of great discounts and time-limited sales, it's clear that not all deals are as good as they might appear", she added. Moreover, as Black Friday promotions push earlier into November, even the distinction between shopping on Black Friday and the days beforehand is becoming less apparent.

"The LG 60UJ630V, a 60" 4K TV, was advertised at £799 by Amazon on Black Friday. Other outside access stores, like Barnes and Noble and Scheels, will remain closed. But it was £10 cheaper at least 27 times before the sales event and 43 times after.

Currys PC World said that it offers customers price transparency by stating exactly when a product was available at a higher price.

A John Lewis spokesman said its Never Knowingly Undersold pledge means it cuts prices to match competitors.
