What to expect from the Windows 10 October 2018 Update

Windows 10 October 2018 Update Available Today

Microsoft Launcher 5.0 for Android brings new Feed UI, Timeline support, and more

The next major feature update to Windows 10, the October 2018 Update, is now available. It'll become more widely available October 9, according to ZDNet.

The Release Preview Ring, which usually previews a full release by a week or so, saw 17763.1 at the same time as the Windows 10 October Update was announced yesterday.

Microsoft is aiming to use its "real-time feedback and telemetry to update your device when data shows your device is ready and will have a great experience".

The company has also released the new Your Phone App that lets you instantly access pictures and texts of your Android phone on your Windows computer. After installing it on both the Windows and on your mobile device, you can see and reply to Snachat conversation, view default SMS app and can be able to perform various other functions. They can choose a time to finish the installation and reboot. Several people on Reddit and Twitter have noted that that the newest feature update for Windows 10 operating system is wiping their documents, images, and music. Using your digital pen you can quickly snip and share a screenshot using a new toolbar: Windows+Shift+S brings it up.

A new app called Your Phone offers functionality similar to what OSX provides iPhone and iPad users in the Apple ecosystem.

The new feature is accessed by pressing the Windows key + V.

Note that this process doesn't require installing the Windows 10 update straight away. Once you select Windows 10 and your download language, you'll be given the option to obtain either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update. "This is unbelievable, I have been using Microsoft products since 1995 and nothing like that ever happened to me", a user reported on Microsoft Answers. Of course you can use Ctrl+V in the same way, but Windows+V displays a new panel, powered by Windows Timeline.

Mixed reality users can open a portal into the real world via the Start menu, a button shortcut, or a voice command. It's a little thing, but probably useful to many. If it's there, you can click to download the update assistant tool. The developers posted that ray-tracing tech would be added to Lara's latest adventure "in a post-launch update", but that doesn't appear to have been pushed live yet.
