Pakistan vs Australia: Shahid Afridi "Stunned" By Australia's Collapse In 1st T20I vs Pakistan

In the first six overs Pakistan took six wickets and conceded just 26 runs, making it the best bowling powerplay ever in a T20 global. All five of Pakistan bowlers got into the act to see their side home with great ease.

Imad Wasim grabbed 3-20 on his return to global cricket after nearly one year out to help Pakistan earn an emphatic 66-run win over Australia in the first Twenty20 on Wednesday.

Having tasted defeat in the Test series, the belief was that Australia would come out strong in the first T20, but as it turned out, they imploded, just like they did in the Test series against a full-blooded Pakistan attack. This is their third lowest Twenty20 worldwide score.

"That powerplay was horrific", Finch said postmatch.

Each of Australia's top four batsmen were bowled and Chris Lynn (14) was the only member of the top six to reach double digits as the tourists lost six wickets in the powerplay to underscore their shocking start to the three-match series.

"That powerplay was horrific.it was like a auto crash in slow motion".

It was a clinical effort from the bowlers, in particular Imad Wasim, who on his return to global cricket after more than a year rattled the Australian top-order to return figures of 3/20 in his four-over spell. Opening the batting, it's my responsibility to get us off to a good start and set up the chase there.

During the run-chase, the Australian batsmen could not gain the momentum they needed as they kept losing wickets at regular wickets. Our fielding was slightly sloppy, then the batting was terrible.

Earlier, Pakistan were lifted by Azam and Mohammad Hafeez (39) as they added 73 for the second wicket in quick time.

Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed was happy to bat first.

Azam struck an unbeaten 68 while Wasim capped a return to worldwide cricket with three wickets as Pakistan crushed Australia by 66 runs on Wednesday. Faheem Ashraf (2/10) and Shaheen Afridi (2/23) shared four wickets between them.

Australia needed to win the series 3-nil to secure the number one T20 ranking, but now need to refocus ahead of the second clash in Dubai on Saturday.
