Shehbaz Sharif is also the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, lower house of the parliament, and the PML-N lawmakers on Saturday called emergency meeting of the parliament to discuss the situation.

Earlier, hundreds of angry PML-N supporters created a ruckus in the premises of the court in Lahore and stopped the armoured vehicle of the police in which Shehbaz Sharif was brought to the court.
The watchdog alleged that the leader of the opposition provided contracts on high rates to unqualified companies of his friends.
In July, an anti-corruption court sentenced Nawaz Sharif to 10 years in prison over properties his family allegedly owned in the United Kingdom, following revelations in the Panama Papers.
She said her party is being victimized in the name of accountability.
Chaudhry said while the government was willing to assist NAB in administrative matters, the bureau was an independent institution which was not under the government.
"We had faced the NAB in the (Pervez) Musharraf regime and we have the courage to face it in Imran Niazi's government", he said.
The Bureau quizzed Sharif regarding a tender awarded to a private consultancy company for a survey of the Saaf Pani company. "This is a case in which Shehbaz Sharif had cancelled the contract and given the same to anti-corruption unit", he said, adding that "not even a single penny of the government was lost". He has fled to the United Kingdom and the NAB has written to the interior ministry to bring him back from overseas through Interpol.
NAB officials took Shehbaz in custody on Friday afternoon after he appeared before NAB investigators in alleged corruption cases, officials said.
