Melania Trump Has Tea with Ghana's 1st Lady, Exchanges Gifts

Melania Trump arrives in Ghana on solo African trip

US First Lady Melania Trump touches down in Africa

First Lady Melania Trump shared tea with her counterpart Tuesday in Ghana as she embarked on the first leg of her five-day solo trip to the African continent.

First lady Melania Trump is greeted by Ghana's first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, as she arrives at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana, on October 2, 2018. She has focussed on children as her signature issue and plans to promote child well-being during her four-country tour, which will include stops in Kenya, Malawi and Egypt.

Mrs. Trump also cradled an infant and declared the baby a "beautiful boy" as she handed him back to his mother.

For some odd unfathomable reason, First Lady Melania Trump looks a lot happier when she is away from the POTUS than when she's with him.

President Donald Trump has not visited Africa since taking office in 2017 but he has reportedly said immigrants from Africa came from "shithole countries".

Mrs. Trump's visit opened in low-key fashion.

Mrs Trump will on Tuesday morning visit the children's block at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital to observe some of the efforts by the government to improve child healthcare.

She was treated to a full blast of rich Ghanaian cultural performances by the Nananom Dance Ensemble as school children waved miniature Ghanaian and American flags.

I'd like to take a moment and thank the First Lady of Ghana for being with us today.
