India vs West Indies 1st ODI: FPJ's dream 11 prediction for India and West Indies

Facing a tricky target of 323 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, India produced an imperious run chase to get over the line with almost eight overs remaining and draw first blood in the five-match series, condemning West Indies to an 11th defeat in their last 13 ODIs. Kohli was dismissed on 140 runs and Rohit stayed unbeaten on 152 runs to take India over the finishing line easily and take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

While most people were quite happy about Team India's performance in the game, former Indian spinner Bishan Singh Bedi wasn't much impressed by the match. I thought West Indies were really good with the bat.

He said that such games did not help India find any solution to their problems ahead of the tour Down Under. "And life isn't hard when Rohit is at the other end", Kohli said at the presentation. "It was one of those days where I felt good and I told Rohit I will continue to bat this way positively and maybe you can play the anchor role", he added.

When they bowled, the Windies got an early breakthrough when debutant fast bowler Oshane Thomas bowled Shikhar Dhawan off the edge for four in the second over. "They're two quality players, world-class players".

Kohli's 36th ODI century and 60th alongside Tests has made him the fastest to the mark - ahead of Sachin Tendulkar.

Hetmyer took charge of the innings, however, blasting six fours and six sixes in a scintillating knock, which required only 78 deliveries.

Rohit played 117 balls and slammed 15 boundaries and eight sixes while Virat played 107 balls and slammed 21 boundaries and two sixes. The ball sailed over the long leg boundary for a six.

Guwahati: Overwhelmed by the sheer domination of Indian batsmen at home, West Indies skipper Jason Holder on Sunday said "you never know what's the par score for a team like India".

Towards the end, Devendra Bishoo and Kemar Roach forged a 44-run partnership for the ninth wicket to guide the West Indies to a challenging total. In the next over, Samuels was also sent packing by Yuzvendra Chahal.

"I won't mind batting first on this pitch", said captain Jason Holder.

The next ODI will be played at Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. Up front we went to get wickets as that was the only way to put them under pressure.
