Turkey Inspects Saudi Consulate in Case of Missing Journalist

Turkish police are expected to search the Saudi consulate again on Wednesday

SAP, Europe's most valuable tech company, will continue to do business in Saudi Arabia, a top executive told Reuters, saying he hoped the circumstances of the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi are clarified.

The president's remarks came shortly after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington would wait for the Saudis to complete an investigation into what happened to Khashoggi before deciding how to respond.

"But it may cause them to limit some of the excesses that we have seen recently".

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu announced on Friday that his country will share "with the world" the results of its ongoing probe into the alleged murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi once it is over.

The pro-government Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak on Wednesday reported that an audio recording of Khashoggi's slaying suggests a Saudi team accosted him after he entered the consulate, cutting off his fingers and later decapitating him. Whether any of the pushback and outrage will lead to any rethinking of the U.Sadministration's's approach to Saudi Arabia, however, remains to be seen.

The Saudi dissident and The Washington Post columnist went missing, following what was supposed to be a routine stop at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

Stephen Colbert kicked off Thursday's Late Show with a family-friendly joke about Special Counsel Robert Mueller's reported post-election report on President Trump and Russian Federation, and Sting's tantric. prowess - followed by a Gen-X-friendly joke about Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Asked about the potential U.S. response to Saudi Arabia, which is accused of murdering the Washington Post columnist, Trump said: "It will have to be very severe".

But while withholding judgment on the case, Trump and Pompeo in recent days have stressed the depth of US-Saudi cooperation in financial and counterterrorism matters stretching back for nearly a century.

Authorities widened the geographic focus of the search after tracking the routes and stops of cars that left the Saudi consulate and the consul's residence on October 2, the day Khashoggi was last seen, the senior officials said.

Additionally, Trump said he would not make a statement on the case until several investigations into Khashoggi's disappearance have concluded.

"It certainly looks that way to me", Trump said when asked if Khashoggi was dead. "It's very sad".

The bot operation reported by NBC urged people to express doubt about news stories reporting that Khashoggi was killed at the Saudi consulate under orders of the Saudi government.

The official, who was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the private meetings and spoke on condition of anonymity, said Pompeo told the crown prince that "time is short".

"Behind the scenes, we're told by sources, he told them they needed to hurry". The prince is next in line for the throne held by his aged father King Salman.
