Wild-card games on Tuesday (losers of Brewers-Cubs and Rockies-Dodgers games) and Wednesday (Athletics at Yankees) will narrow the field to eight teams, four in each league, as the chase begins in earnest for the World Series crown. Both games will be televised on ESPN.

But the Milwaukee Brewers came up big against the Detroit Tigers, setting up game number 163 in the friendly confines. They are a relative rarity - there have only been four tiebreakers since 2000, and only one since 2013. The team tweeted out a letter for fans to give their bosses so they can get out of work Monday afternoon for the game. Chicago Cubs, and Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers jumped on the Giants for seven runs in the third inning en route to a 15-0 win. The victor will not only win the NL Central, but will secure the best record in the National League.

Assuming Nolan Arenado doesn't hit 12 in Colorado's playoff game Monday, Oakland's Khris Davis will be this year's major league home run leader with 48. "We needed to win today by all means, and tomorrow the same thing", said first baseman Anthony Rizzo of Sunday and Monday for the Cubs.

It's a spot that they've rarely been in their franchise's history, making Monday's Game 163 an event to behold.

The Dodgers are looking to push their streak of NL West championships to six straight seasons.

The title-winning Red Sox, Indians, Astros and Braves will advance to the postseason along with the Brewers, Cubs, Rockies and Dodgers plus the Yankees and Athletics, the two American League wild-card teams.

Jose Quintana (13-11, 4.09 ERA) is expected to start for Chicago, while Milwaukee's starter hasn't been announced.
