"In the offensive phase he was wonderful", the Italian told a news conference. We are trying to solve the problem for Sunday [but] I think it is not very easy [for him to recover in time].
"I think my debut was still more special, just because you dream of that as a kid".
But he added: "We have a tactical problem with the midfielders because for two positions we have four midfielders and three of them have the same characteristics".
Loftus-Cheek, who made only his fourth appearances of the season in all competitions, was understandably buoyed following his match-winning display at Stamford Bridge and offered a more defiant view on his prospects at the club.
"He is asking me to improve defensively and positionally", Loftus-Cheek began as he clutched the match ball following a night when his name rang around Stamford Bridge with regularity. It is very hard for me to put in four offensive midfielders of the same character.
Sarri said using Barkley and Loftus-Cheek together may be an option in the future, but only if they improve.
He said: "If I'm him, I'm hoping he takes me off before the 90 minutes is up".
"For a manager who has been in the game for a long time, it would be daft for me not to take in what he is telling me", Loftus-Cheek said.
"The first thing in my head is to keep playing well, to keep sharp in case I do get an opportunity to start", the midfielder told BT Sport.
'So first thing's first, I need to keep up the good habits - eating well, sleeping well and training well and if I keep doing that then good things will come'.
"The reality is, you are talking about a 60-game season and you are not going to play the same starting XI week in, week out", he said.
Loftus-Cheek has been held up as something of a symbol of Chelsea's failure to integrate their talented academy products into the first team, with their loan programme regularly criticised by outsiders.
