But it proved undeniable with 14 total nominations, the most ever for an Amazon series in a single year and second only to "Atlanta" (16) as the most nominated comedy of the year.
Bill Hader collected the best comedy actor award for Barry, a dark comedy about a hired killer who stumbles into a possible acting career. The Saint Ignatius College Prep grad noted that his wife refused to join him at the Emmys because she didn't want to watch him lose.
"I don't even believe in God, but I am going to thank her tonight", Newton said.
