Apple Watch Series 4 Tipped to Sport Larger, Higher Resolution Display

Fans can await the official announcement of the Apple Watch 4 during the upcoming event as the Apple Watch 3 was also announced in September of past year. Turns out, it is going to be considerable if you compare it with its predecessor, so let us not waste any unnecessary time and dive straight into the details. How Apple plans to use this technology is not certain in any way but that hasn't stopped Redditors from drawing the conclusion that the company may introduce an always-on mode for the soon-to-be-launched Apple Watch.

Perhaps we'll get some clarity around this next week, at Apple's big iPhone XS event that's also reportedly set to include the unveiling of a major Apple Watch redesign. They could also be sketches of a device that isn't even an Apple Watch.

Apple's fall event will happen on September 12, beginning 10am PDT (10:30pm IST). According to Kuo, the Series 4 will be available in 1.57-inch and 1.78-inch screen sizes. A fresh piece of the puzzle was uncovered recently thanks to a new 9to5Mac report which dug deep into the watchOS 5 beta to figure out what the resolution of the device will be. But the Series 4 will have a resolution of 384 x 480. Apple's patent FIG. 1 is a perspective view of an illustrative electronic device (Apple Watch); FIG. 3 is a diagram of an illustrative curved edge of a pixel array in a display.

Apple will be able to achieve this significantly higher resolution by reducing the size of the bezels and making the screen a little bit larger. The site has also shared some images of how different watch faces and apps will look on the Apple Watch Series 4. The other issue Apple would have to figure out is how much power this feature would need to work, while still giving its users a long lasting battery life. This new device will probably feature a higher PPI, which also contributes to the higher resolution.

Multiple factors can impact the value of handset on the resale market and it could be that given the various leaks of the rumoured upcoming new iPhone handsets, that consumers are taking the opportunity to now upgrade to the year old iPhone X given its lower price and underwhelming prospect of the new models.
