Red Dead Redemption was released in May of 2010 and has sold more than 15 million copies to date. "The first is that even though Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online share the same gameplay mechanics and geography, we see them essentially as separate products that will grow and evolve independently of each other".
We don't have a trailer for Red Dead Online just yet but Rockstar has said that it will build upon the ideas introduced in Red Dead Redemption's original multiplayer modes. They explain how they feel they have found the way to "combine personality, gameplay, style, narrative, and variety" into their online content. Other than cutscenes - for obvious reasons - this puts the entire game in the personalised perspective allowing players to truly experience the world as if they were in it. These bits and bobs are just a fraction of the stuff you'll be able to do in Red Dead Redemption 2 when it launches for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on 26th October. It'll also feature constant updates and adjustments over time.
Following the massive success of GTA Online, Rockstar made sure to implement a similar online open world experience for the Western franchise.
"As with most online experiences of this size and scale, there will inevitably be some turbulence at launch. We believe this way of rolling out will give people the best overall experiences with both single player and multiplayer". It's not known whether or not this will qualify as Red Dead 2's Photo Mode.
Today marks the five year anniversary of the original release of Grand Theft Auto V. It had the biggest launch in entertainment history. We'll see how it all comes together soon enough, as RDR2's release is almost upon us.
