The scene took place at the Bronx Subway Station in New York City and involved Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker in a riot scene with a bunch of extras wearing clown masks. We're talking a blank-white face, a brick-red clown grin, a crimson button nose, eyebrows painted a few inches above his real ones, and mismatched blue triangles that frame his eyes here, guys.
Someone else theorised: "Based on the flashes shown throughout this it looks like make-up he might wear as a part of his comedy act that fails, so I doubt this is the actual Joker make-up". We then see our first official look at Phoenix in Joker makeup.
The video is set to The Guess Who's song Laughing, a sad tale about a broken relationship.
There are roughy 73874239 Joker movies in development, but director Todd Phillips' upcoming project has the edge - an actual Joker. After all, The Joker is Batman's first and biggest mistake, it only makes sense for him to have a small cameo.
Prior to Phoenix filling the role, Jared Leto portrayed the Joker in 2016's Suicide Squad, the late Heath Ledger earned a posthumous Oscar for playing the character in 2008's The Dark Knight and Jack Nicholson famously portrayed the maniacal villain in Tim Burton's 1989 Batman.
Todd Phillips' Joker is set to be released October 4th 2019.
Other cast members include: Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Bill Camp (Molly's Game), Brett Cullen (Narcos), Glenn Fleshler (Barry), Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful) and Marc Maron (GLOW).
