Those contributions took Alonso's tally to one goal and two assists from Chelsea's first four Premier League games at the end of a week that saw him named in Luis Enrique's first Spain squad for matches against England and Croatia later this month.
The Blues boss said after seeing a man he has pushed back into a more defensive role star in a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth: "Alonso, at the moment, this position at left-back is maybe the best in Europe".
Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri on the future of Ruben Loftus-Cheek: "I think that he will be important for sure, starting from September we will play every few days". I think he needs to improve from the tactical point of view, nothing else.
Four games and four wins, Chelsea haven't put a foot wrong in the Premier League this season. Four of those sides were crowned champions, but Sarri was in no mood to indulge talk of the title so early in the season. "The gap at the beginning [to Manchester City] was 30 points [from last season]".
Sarri had warned before the opening game of the league campaign that his side would face a hard start as he attempted to implement a very different approach to that employed by Conte.
Sarri had no doubt Chelsea would prevail against Bournemouth in a tricky contest. "I think Loftus will be very, very important and very useful to us".
The best and worst of David Luiz was on show in the first half.
"They were very organised and they defended very well but usually in this match you have to be patient because you can win in the last 20 minutes".
While Conte was a fairly pragmatic manager, Chelsea have taken a totally different direction this season, employing Maurizio Sarri and his attack-minded "Sarri-ball" tactics to take charge at Stamford Bridge this season. Now we are trying to let him to play like a winger.
'He's very young for a striker, and can improve more.
Fans had always quietly considered him an underrated player and his performances in a Chelsea shirt are really showing off his quality.
