Martinez grew up in Greenacres, Florida, and those who knew her said she enjoyed jogging, was recently engaged and worked at an internet start-up where she was recently promoted. She was also excited to be planning her upcoming wedding to her fiancé, Daniel Hincapie.

Police have nabbed a suspect in the stabbing death of a runner in Washington D.C. and the victim's mom said she has already forgiven him for killing her daughter.
Police said Crawford is not homeless, has been uncooperative with them, and Martinez was not robbed.
"She was injured very severely", the police chief said.
Crawford was located at 14th and Girard at a park and brought in for questioning late Wednesday night in connection with the fatal stabbing.

According to Fox 5, Anthony Crawford has a criminal history and did not know Wendy Martinez before the attack.
The 35-year-old was three blocks away from her apartment when she was attacked by an unknown assailant.
"This is a very isolated incident, you don't see crimes like this very often".
Martinez's brother, Juan Carlos Martinez, said he and his family have been touched by the outpouring of support they have gotten from the community and civic leaders.
Martinez's family released the following statement Wednesday night, however did not speak during a press conference on Thursday.
The security surveillance video also showed a possible suspect running from the scene. "Everything you hope that a daughter and a friend could be", her family said on September 19, NBC Washington reported.
Martinez was the chief of staff for a government affairs company.
Martinez reportedly lived not far from where she was attacked and was said to be an avid jogger.
