While the knee injury in Week 3 effectively costs $650,000 in total roster bonuses for the remainder of the 2018 season, he will still net $41.35 million for the year, according to Spotrac.

The San Francisco 49ers announced today that starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has a torn ACL.

Garropolo tore his ACL in the 49ers' loss at Kansas City on Sunday, exiting the game in the fourth quarter.

In Garoppolo's absence, the Niners initially will turn to C.J. Beathard, whom they surprisingly traded up to select in the third round of the 2017 draft. Beathard was sacked 19 times last season. After spending several minutes down on the field and then being evaluated on the sideline, the 26-year-old was eventually taken to the San Francisco locker room on the back of a cart. The team now sits at 1-2 after a 38-27 loss to the Chiefs.

Garoppolo suffered a non-contact injury to his left knee as he attempted to absorb a hit from Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Steven Nelson near the end of the 49ers' 38-27 loss.

In three games this season, Garoppolo threw five touchdowns with three interceptions, as the Niners head into Week 4 with a 1-2 record.

Coming into this season, Garoppolo was 7-0 in his career between the New England Patriots and the 49ers with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions.
