Sears and Kmart stores closing this year

Dozens of Sears, Kmart stores closing nationwide

And now, Sears has announced it's closing another 46 stores in November: 33 of those stores will be Sears, while 13 of them will be Kmart stores.

The Savannah Sears store will close its doors in November after more than seven decades of business in the Hostess City, according to a statement released by Sears Holdings.

According to CNN, when Sears and Kmart merged in 2005, the company had about 3,500 USA locations.

"We continue to evaluate our network of stores, which is a critical component to our integrated retail transformation, and will make further adjustments as needed", it said.

Liquidation sales will begin next week. La Crosse's Sears location is also closing, according to the store's website.

Lampert's hedge fund, ESL Investments Inc., said in April it would be open to buying some of the company's assets and urged the department store to put the businesses on the block.

The Sears at Glenbrook Square was included in a list of 46 stores slated for closure released this week. Two other regional Sears are being closed, including one in Happy Valley and one at the Vancouver Mall.

Sears said overall revenue fell 31 percent in the three months ending May 5. The company's share prices have fallen 85% over the past year as people shun malls for online shopping.
