Maurizio Sarri reveals who he wants Chelsea to sign this week

GETTY Community Shield Riyad Mahrez to make competitive debut for Manchester City

Sergio Aguero scored twice _ once in each half for his record-extending 200th and 201st goals for City _ as FA Cup holder Chelsea was beaten 2-0 in the traditional curtain raiser to the English season at Wembley Stadium.

Manchester City last lifted the Community Shield in 2012, defeating this year's opponents Chelsea 3-2 in a fixture that was played at Villa Park.

Sarri and Guardiola are close friends and dined together on the eve of the Community Shield, yet this first experience of Chelsea's reduced status must have left a nasty taste for the Italian.

Some of their lethargy going forward could be put down to the heat, which made it hard for both sides to sustain any sort of tempo.

Maurizio Sarri pointed out in the match programme Chelsea finished 30 points behind City last season and that, while Guardiola has enjoyed two seasons working with his squad, he is still yet to meet some of his players who featured late-on at the World Cup.

Both teams played with depleted sides, as City missed the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, and Ederson in their first team, while Chelsea lacked the services of Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois, N'Golo Kante, and Olivier Giroud, among others.

But they produced a controlled and efficient performance to secure their third piece of silverware in the past six months. "The players are in bad, bad conditions", Guardiola said.

Chelsea have so far signed just two players in the summer transfer window: midfielder Jorginho and third-choice goalkeeper Rob Green. Hats off because it is not easy to play with such a short time. We take a look at the midfielders City could target before Thursday. "We'll see at the end of the season what our level was". Callum Hudson-Odoi looked most unsafe for Chelsea, but the Blues missed N'Golo Kante in midfield and struggled to create opportunities in the final third of the pitch.

However, the 31-year-old fell out of favour with Conte last season after a disagreement over tactics and also struggled with injury for much of the campaign. Right now, it is Bernardo and 10 players more.

They will report today, and Sarri added: "It's a long way we have to work". Those four players pretty much constitute the spine of the side and will make a difference when they return. As far as matters on the pitch is concerned, Maurizio Sarri will look towards the Italian worldwide to run the show from the middle of the park and create the chances for his teammates in the final third.

"I think it's good news for us for the season".

With big names looking certain to leave, this is an opportunity for a few players to impress the new Chelsea boss against a City side with one eye on a very tricky opening Premier League tie at Arsenal next week.
