Despite having their own well-formulated attacks, Mourinho's side often found themselves on the back foot and defending for long bouts of the game.Throughout the seasons, we have become used to an overtly attacking Manchester United side with a strong line of defence.

Mourinho is now unbeaten in all 18 of his opening league matches of a season as a manager and has won nine out of 10 in the Premier League.

"You think of Alderweireld, which to me seemed like a certainty that Manchester United would sign Alderweireld", he said on Sky Sports.

It was nearly as if they were saying "look this is Old Trafford, and we are United - this is how we play".

"I thought it looked a bit false, to be honest with you".

Initially all looked rosy at Old Trafford, as United's encouraging start saw it go ahead through captain Pogba, but thereafter Leicester was the controlling force in the first period. "I had my plans for many months and I find myself with the market closed in a situation I did not think I would be in".

The United board were not open to spending money on defenders that they claimed were not better than the players already in the side, which has not gone down well with Mourinho according to the Guardian.

"It's three points, it's what we wanted", said Pogba.

"The thinking was that he is a very good penalty taker and he likes the responsibility of it and he's the first choice", Mourinho said, via the Mirror.

"I want to give back to them and always try my best to be thankful to the fans and to my team-mates". Juan Mata was brilliant at picking the right pass and Andreas Pereira was also very steady. United will rely on Pogba to win the ball in midfield and create scoring chances for Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku.

He added: "It was not a hard decision [to start Pogba], the decision was down to him".

Mourinho has been critical of Shaw in the past but he was full of praise for him afterwards, and rightly so. "But very complete performance, he just has to keep going, the mentality was very good, the tactical discipline was very good too and he had the power to move forward and score an important goal for us".

Lindelof and Bailly - together at the back?

I need more changes but I couldn't.

'But he's so confident and he started the game brilliantly, Paul Pogba.

United still got the win despite probably only being at 70%, and everyone who was involved is going to be fitter next time.
