The singer, who was booked on the show to promote her new fourth album, Sweetener, performed alongside Jimmy's house band, United States hip hop legends The Roots.

25-year-old Ariana Grande paid her tribute during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday (August 16) in New York City.

Over on Jimmy Kimmel Live, guest Don Cheadle revealed that he, too, received a phone call from Franklin, who reached out to tell him how much she enjoyed his performance in the 2015 Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead.
